Photography classes

Exciting Photography evening classes.

A new term ahead. The spring term and all that comes with it.

Please also click the spring term button for the term course outline.

I have college courses running, Monday and Wednesday evenings at Burleigh community college.

Tuesday evenings at Rawlins community college.

In the class room you will learn the technical side of photography, camera exposure, shutter speeds, aperture settings, ISO sensitivity and white balance.

On the first week of the course I will have a still-life subject lit by a strong light. We will be taking camera meter readings while photographing the still life subject.

You will be be in control of your camera right from the start of the course. In control of your camera and your images.

We will be learning the compositional side of photography, the arty side. Angle of view, depth, subject placement. Using the foreground, background.

This is how you put your personal stamp on the image.

We will go through a list of photographic projects. Landscape, still life, architecture, flowers and foliage, people and more.

We will be using the season changes, winter to spring for two or three of the projects.

I will bring in the studio lighting, for you to get to know the studio flash and learn about taking studio people portraits.

I will be encouraging students to build up a portfolio of their images. We will also have a big book of images. Students email me their best images and I have them printed for the book.

We have Sunday morning meet-ups (optional)

where we meet at locations in and around Loughborough.

You could meet students from the other classes. (Please view the Sunday meet-up page).

We have an internet page to share images and make comments on student's work from the other classes.

There is a link with the Photo Fanclub. Certain projects photographed by the students can be viewed by the Fanclub. The members of the club have a vote on the images and the winner gets a box of chocolates.
